Oblivion Shard Rules...
OBLIVION SHARD RULES OF CONDUCT
While you are a member of the shard, you must abide by the following rules. If you break any of these rules an administrator may
terminate your account immediately. In general, if you have to think about whether or not a certain action is legal, then it
probably isn’t.
Page a staff member with specific questions if you're not sure.
1. This is a game. HAVE FUN!
2. You many not harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to another player or staff member.
If you have a personal issue with another member of this shard, please keep it out of the game and off the shard website environment.
This includes sharing the identity of Staff Members’ player characters with other players; if you do not have express permission from
the Staff Member in question, revealing the identity of their toon to another player is a bannable offense whether done in the Oblivion
environments or elsewhere.
3. PK'ing is allowed in Felucca only. PK’ing anywhere other than Felucca is intolerable and WILL NOT BE PERMITTED so don't do it! Calling
the Guards in town will be considered a form of pk'ing, as is luring animals and monsters to players that are doing unattended macros.
It is also against the rules to trick, lure, or otherwise deceive another player into going to Felucca for the purposes of PK’ing them.
While the system is set-up to help prevent this from happening, attempts to circumvent a player’s choice to go to Felucca will be dealt
with severely.
**Added for the benefit of those players who have NO common sense..... Do not attack staff unless specifically invited to do so. If by
some off chance you attack and kill staff (including smurfs) I will personally have fun with your account. Admin Kami.
4. Please do not use any offensive or sexually explicit language. Not all players appreciate hearing it and the staff, which can “hear” party
chat and guild chat, do not wish to be privy to your personal business.
5. You may not use any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or
otherwise objectionable language toward any other player or staff member.
6. New players will be given general newbie items in a Welcome pack, (one per account, not per character) and that is all. When you
log-in for the first time on the Shard, you will be prompted to page for your New Player Pack. A Staff Member will deliver it and welcome
you to the shard. So, please don't ask for anything else other than help or advice! When making a character, you must choose a race.
In doing this you will receive a race bag which is newbiefied.
In your race bag you will receive several items that are unique to that race. Since the bag is newbiefied, anything in it cannot be lost in
case of your death. Due to this, each character will be allowed to have ONLY ONE race bag on them. If staff notices that you have more
than one on a character, the staff member will DELETE all race bags and their contents.
7. You are allowed two houses per account.
8. You may not violate any local, state, national or international law or regulation. (Oblivion will not be held liable for it's player's actions,
and will cooperate fully with any investigation by any law enforcement agency. In fact we will be VERY helpful, so don't do anything illegal.)
9. You may not organize any guilds or groups that are based on any racist, sexist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, anti-gay, or other hate-mongering
philosophy.
10. "UO Extreme" is illegal - if you are caught using this program, or any other program which allows you to gain unfair advantage over other
players or the system you will be banned immediately and irrevocably. If someone else is using this program on your account, no questions asked
your account will be banned. Razor is allowed.
11. You may not use The Oblivion Shard or The Oblivion Shard message boards for any activities other than activities that are permitted within
the game world. Examples include but are not limited to: You may not market, promote or advertise anything, or make any other form of
solicitation (including pyramid schemes, chain letters and other shards) with the exception of Oblivion in game items, on Oblivion or through the
Oblivion2 Web site. Player message boards follow the same rules as the shard when it comes to profanity along with websites that contain sexually
explicit material.
12. You may not post or communicate any player's real life personal information within The Oblivion shard or through The Oblivion Shard web site's
message boards.
13. You will not attempt to interfere with, hack into, or decipher any messages to or from the server running the Oblivion shard. All access to the
servers is logged. All hack attempts will be investigated and reported to the authorities.
14. You will not exploit any bug of RunUO while using The Oblivion Shard to gain unfair advantage in the game; all bugs must be reported as soon
as discovered to shard staff either in game, via ICQ, or through an email. Not reporting the issue and being caught using it is a bannable offense.
Cheating and exploiting makes the game difficult for all.
15. You may not arrange for the exchange or transfer of any pirated software or other contraband while you are on The Oblivion shard or its web
site nor may you use The Oblivion Shard or its Web Site for any other illegal purpose.
16. You may not give false information or intentionally hide any information that is required at the time you register with The Oblivion shard, or
that is required of you by staff during the normal operation of the Shard and related to actual gameplay (i.e. you are not required to reveal personal
real-life information, but if staff asks what you know of an in-game situation or incident, lying or withholding needed information is prohibited).
17. Personal spawns of any kind including but not limited to Town Vendors, Bankers, sheep, animals, plants and etc. are NOT purchasable. So please
do not ask.
18. Attended and unattended macroing is allowed on the Shard except from the hours of 8 am to 6 pm EST Monday to Friday. Please do not do it in
public areas. i.e.: near the bank, off of town vendors. Etc. All macros, attended or unattended, must have at least a 3 second delay between
actions (i.e. no "button mashing" or "hold the key down" macros at all). Staff will disconnect anyone using a macro program that "spams" the server.
Attended macroing is permitted between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm EST weekdays; however, if a GM pops in to speak to you about some aspect
of your macro and you do not respond in a timely manner, it will be assumed that your macro is unattended.
19. Stealing allowed in Felucca only - Stealing from players anywhere other than Felucca or stealing from another player's house or their vendor is
illegal and will NOT be tolerated. If you are caught performing any of these you will be banned. Stealing from non-player vendors is legal. Snooping
players anywhere other than Felucca who do not give you permission to do so is also illegal. Killing of player vendors is not permissible. Killing NPC
vendors in any of the towns is illegal.
20. Looting of players is allowed in Felucca only - Looting of players anywhere other than Felucca is illegal unless you have the express permission
from the dead player to do so in an effort to rescue their items for them or if it is allowed within the context of an event. Looting without this
permission or outside the context of an event or Felucca will result in you being jailed and/or banned.
21. Staff has the final say - If a staff member requests that you refrain from doing something that is not explicitly outlined on this page do it.
Staff cannot and will not overrule another staffer's decision on an issue. Only Shard Admin may overrule a GM/Seer Staff decision. If you feel you
must contact an Admin regarding an issue do so via email. Oblivion shard Admin email addresses may be found on this website. Failure to comply
with a staff member WILL result in jail time and/or being banned.
22. Do not use any spell or object that could cause health loss or hinder another player or player's pets in town or around player's yards/houses.
These include but are not limited to field spells and explosion potions. Do not block or restrict the flow of players or monsters by an object.
23. Virtue Stones are not to be sold or traded. Virtue Stones are given to a person in recognition for completing a quest or special event, so unless
you are there you don't get the reward. As well, the sale of any runes or rune books to quest locations is strictly prohibited.
24. Players are allowed 5 characters on one account that has been properly acquired through the administration of the shard. Giving accounts or
receiving an account from another player is illegal and the account in question will be deleted. Anyone that is found with more than one account
will have all accounts in question banned and deleted.
25. Staff members will not taxi you about the realm, resurrect you (unless the circumstances deem it, i.e.: A shard run event) or give away items
and/or adjust stats and skills without the specific prior approval of shard administration. Do not page staff for this.
26. Please remember when paging a staff member to be as specific as possible regarding your problem. Pages asking if certain players or staff are
on, if you can have a certain item or so on and so forth will not be answered. Pages are for in game problems; and we will be better able to serve
you if we have a better idea of what your problem is. Abuse of the paging system will result in jail time.
27. It is illegal to sell/trade or give Veteran awards. These are meant to you as a gift from us for the amount of time played. If a player is found
wearing or riding such awards and they have not been on the shard for the amount of time needed for them, they will be deleted immediately.
28. Gatehopping is strictly forbidden. Unless you are invited through a gate do not run through to see where it leads. This is a jailable offense
and could lead to possible banning.
THESE RULES WILL APPLY TO ANYONE THAT YOU ALLOW TO USE YOUR ACCOUNT, YOU ARE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONSEQUENCES
(INCLUDING BANNING OF YOUR ACCOUNT) THAT MAY RESULT IF ANY SUCH PERSON BREAKS THESE RULES.
STAFF HAS THE FINAL SAY ON THE INTERPRETATION OF THESE RULES.
PUNISHMENTS FOR BREAKING ANY OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF GAME TIME BY JAILING OR PERMANENT BANNING FROM THE SHARD.
