What are the Icon/static quests and how many are there?

In Oblivion, there are aproximately 70 such quests, with new quests being added every so often. These quests consist in searching for the holder of a magical Icon. This Icon is represented by one of the spell icons from the mage's spell book.

Each monster carries one Icon in his loot. The Icon when moved becomes your property, and only you may use it. By double clicking the Icon you will be rewarded with one virtue stone. Each quest may only be completed once per player account.

When you have enough virtue stones, you use them to purchase rewards from the Crystal of Virtues located at the Travel Hub.

How long does it take for a pet to bond?

Pet bonding happens in 2 ways:

Normal pets such as horses or pack animals require no animal lore or taming skill to bond. Keep your pet "Wonderfully Happy" for a period of aproximately 14 days, and the pet will bond the next time you feed it.

Custom Pets, or higher level pets, may require you to have a set amount of skill in animal lore or taming before they bond. The process however works exactly like the one for normal pets, keep the pet "Wonderfully Happy" during 14 days approximately and the pet will bond with your character the next time you feed it.

What is a Pit/Town Raid?

Pit Spawns - or Pits as commonly referred to by our players - are staff run mini events. They have no set time, or schedule, and are held in a special area set aside for them. This is a enclosed area where players gather and a staffer will add monsters for players to kill and loot. It is a good occasion to make new friends and meet more players of the shard, plus a reward may sometimes be given at the end of the Pit.

Pit Spawns may last anything from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the staffer's time availability and any other considerations. The call to a Pit is announced through the broadcast system of the shard by a member of the staff, so it is heard shard-wide. Usual calls to pit may look like this:

"Help the Pits are under attack!!!"

At such a call please ask a player where you may go to enter the Pit Arena. Opposed to other types of events, the Pit mini event allows players to bring their own equipment. Sometimes, during a Pit your character may die, if this happens, stay calm and locate the nearest Res Gate.

Town raids are exactly the same thing as a Pit Spawn, but held inside or outside of a town. The staff will announce which town is being raided and players who want to participate may travel there by any means, to rescue the town. Again all the information regarding Pits holds true for Town Raids.

Note that while these two events are held some hard and fast rules stay in place:

You are not allowed to use summon spells such as Energy Vortex, or Blade Spirits, you are not allowed to use Field type spells, and you are not allowed to loot or attack other players if a Pit Spawn or Town Raid is held in the Felucca facet. Any change from these rules shall be broadcasted by the staffer holding the Pit or Town Raid.

Why should I save my Journal and how do I do it?

Even though stealing and killing in Trammel, Ilshenar, Tokuno and Malas, is not directly possible due to the ruleset, there are people who like to ruin the game for everyone. Thus, should you be victim of such a unfortunate circumstance, saving your journal will help staff determine the culprit and deal the punishment the wrong-doer deserves.

To save your journal you have one of 2 options:

If you do not know enough about setting up and modifying your UO installation, please click here and download the preset configuration file that we have prepared for you. A text file inside the zip archive indicates how to use this file. The file has been scanned with the latest AV software, and was free of viruses when uploaded to the site. However we recomend you scan it again to ensure maximum safety.

If you feel comfortable with changing and modifying your UO installation then do the following steps:

Locate the following file inside your main UO installation folder: UO.cfg

Now add the following line to the first part of your UO.cfg

JournalSaveFile=C:\Program Files\Ultima Online 2D\journal.txt

You may also look for the following lines in your UO.cfg, and set them as you see in this example:

SaveJournal=on
JournalSaveUnicode=off

Alternatively, you may go to your client and click on the Options button ( ALT+O will also take you there ), and select the "Save Journal Text" option.

This option is located in the tab illustrated here:    Options Menu Button to click
